A Timely Legacy

As 3-month old newbies to this Wisdom journey, we have realised more of the workings of the mind than our seven decades of living. This has been a profound revelation as we had been blindly following the ups and downs of daily living like headless chooks. We are happy when things go our way, angry and/or sad when they are not. Totally ignorant of simple words like aversion, greed, and delusion! Our attempts at meditation in the last 20 years had given us some tranquil moments but still left us with a sense of lack.

From our first encounter with Teachers at WISE, we instantly realised that this teaching is exceptional, a truly precious gift and hard to come by.

Now, a little more than three months on, we have completed MSP (Mindfulness Starting Point), AIW (Awakening Inner Wisdom) and 3 retreats, all virtually.

Living in New Zealand and due to Covid travel restrictions, we feel fortunate to be able to have access to not only the formal teachings and also the support of fellow practitioners on various practices and discussion groups. This virtual community provides us with tremendous support and guidance.

With an increase in awareness and understanding of the workings of the mind, we notice a pleasant by-product – a more easeful and peaceful living.

We are delighted to hear of our Teachers’ noble endeavour to set up this Sri Langkasuka Retreat Village whereby practitioners from all over the world have been gifted the opportunity to participate from inception to utilization.

A physical environment provides more conducive dynamics for practice compared to a virtual one.

A prolonged period of practice in a retreat village provides community support of like-minds for sustained progress in the spiritual path.

With this project, we have this rare and precious opportunity to set the causes and conditions for the continued accessibility of the Dhamma and Practice for present and future generations.

We invite you to pledge your support for Sri Langkasuka Retreat Village by gifting generously in monies and deeds as we walk on the journey together.

With Loving-kindness,
Mae and Stephen Wong
