Not a Coincident
I became interested in the spiritual path in a later part of my life. Although I live a comfortable life in Australia and have a satisfying career in the medical field, I suffered from stress with my patients, relatives, and surrounding events.
Questions like long lasting happiness, the meaning of life, what good can sciences and technologies do to humankind arose in my mind. I began searching for answers by digging into the fields of psychology, philosophy and the Buddha’s teachings. These teachings made sense to me, but there was still a disquiet dissatisfaction in my mind. It seemed like a long journey of searching for me.
I decided to work less and dedicate more time for practice by attending various retreats and spiritual teaching in the local vicinity. In 2019, COVID-19 outbreak took place. It has brought devastation to the world and millions of people. However, it became one of the causes and conditions for me to meet with WISE Foundation. I was connected to the teachings about meditation and mind-works through Zoom, guided by two fantastic Teachers - Tuck Loon and Lai Fun. My deep buried, unresolved questions and doubts were resolved through the thorough explanation and skilful guidance of both Teachers. The sincerity and enthusiasm of the practitioners have also inspired me to journey along this endeavour.
While I was in Southwest Sydney national park, immersed in the open and silent atmosphere, I wished that WISE would have a retreat centre that could provide a conducive and supportive environment for communal practice. As miraculous as it seems, the news of a retreat village came to fruition. I truly rejoice with it and I wish to invite all of you to come together, offering skills in whatever aspects and means to make this project a success for the benefit of many.
With confidence and respect,
Kim Loan
